Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste Collection

  1. Residents can have their Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste collected right from their front door. To schedule a pick up, fill out the form below. You will receive a response within 24 hours (excluding weekends) to schedule a pickup date.

    Before submitting, please read all instructions at the bottom of this form. 

  2. Acceptable Household Hazardous Waste:
    • Latex and oil-based paint
    • Paint thinners, gasoline, solvents
    • Oil, petroleum-based lubricants
    • Cooking oils
    • Automotive fluids
    • Ethylene glycol, antifreeze
    • Pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers
    • Aerosols
    • Mercury and mercury equipment
    • Lead-acid, alkaline, and NiCad batteries
    • Fluorescent, compact fluorescent (CFL), and high-intensity light bulbs.
    • HID lamps
    • Pool chemicals
    • Acidic and basic cleaners
    • Resins and epoxy
    • Medical sharps
    • Empty Propane, helium, and Freon cylinders
  3. Acceptable E-Waste:
    • Televisions, monitors, VCRs, and DVD players
    • Computers and laptops
    • Handheld keyboards and mice
    • Scanners, printers, and copiers
    • Telephones and fax machines
    • Microwave ovens
    • CD players and stereos
    • Related cables
  4. Unacceptable Household Hazardous Waste:
    • Commercially generated HHW or electronics
    • Radioactive compounds
    • Smoke detectors
    • Ammunition
    • Explosives
    • Tires
    • Asbestos
    • PCBs (Polychlorinated biphenyls)
    • Pharmaceuticals or controlled substances
    • Biological or infectious waste
    • Fire extinguishers
    • Dry paint (completely dry paint or empty paint cans)
    • Leaking or unidentified containers
  5. Preparing the Materials for Collection:
    • After submitting this request of items, you will receive a response within 24 hours (excluding weekends) to schedule a pickup date. You will then be mailed a kit with information, instructions, bags, labels, and zip ties for your item.
    • Ensure all materials are in the original container or property identified utilizing the labels provided in the kit.
    • Ensure all containers are sealed tight to prevent spills. Place leaking containers in a plastic bag. Containers can be reinforced with duct tape.
    • Containers must be at or less than five gallons; containers exceeding five gallons will not be accepted.
    • Only like items in bags.
      • Do not mix cleaners with gasoline or paint with light bulbs, etc.
      • Request additional bags for additional types of household hazardous waste (HHW) needing disposal.
    • If your waste spills, remove it and place it in a new container and close securely. Remove as much spillage from the large plastic bag as possible. Call 469.451.3713 for additional bags and/or a new pickup schedule. When new bags arrive, label what spilled in a dirty bag and place the dirty bag in a clean bag so it is contained. Place in a new bag with completely sealed items.
    • Electronic items are not required to be placed into a plastic bag or container nor labeled.
  6. Placement of Containment Bag and E-Waste Items:
    • The containment bag(s) and electronic waste items must be placed out for collection by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.
    • Place the items on your front porch visible from the street, not at the curb.
    • If the items will not be visible from the street, or if there is a gated entrance that has entry instructions, please call 469.451.3713.
    • Take the empty bag to your front porch. Bring each item you want collected up to the bag and place inside. This avoids the bag being pulled, dragged, or perforated.
    • Bags must close completely. 
    • Items can be placed in front of your garage door as long as it is not located in the alley.
  7. Collection:
    • Republic Services will arrive on the scheduled collection day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. to collect items. 
    • Unlabeled items will not be collected.
