Due to the current state of the coronavirus/COVID-19 in Denton County and the State of Texas, the Town Council unanimously approved the extension of the disaster declaration until April 20 and the postponement of the May 2 General Election to November 3, 2020.

The disaster declaration will extend the existing closure of the Public Library, Community Activity Center, and Senior Center through Monday, April 20. Mayor Steve Dixon will formally sign the extended disaster declaration tomorrow, March 20, which will include the formal parameters and any possible amendments. This declaration extension by Flower Mound officials is to support the effort to help save lives and flatten the curve of community spread of COVID-19 in Denton County.

Earlier today, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order effective midnight Friday, March 20 through midnight, Friday, April 3. The order limited social gatherings to no more than 10 people, temporary closure of schools, no dine-in eating/drinking at bars and restaurants, gyms temporarily closed, no visiting nursing homes except for critical care, and to follow social distancing and hygiene recommendations.
