If you’ve noticed your morning commute through the southern border of Flower Mound has gotten longer this week, you are not alone. With the ongoing closure of Fairway Drive and change in traffic pattern associated with the DFW Connector Project, the headaches will likely continue for the next few months.
While the projects are not under the control of Flower Mound, Town staff has been in contact with the other organizations expressing the frustration of residents in addition to requesting updates, when available.
Here’s the latest information we’ve received:
DFW Connector Project Update
The current southbound traffic pattern, from FM 2499 to eastbound SH 114/DFW Airport, will be in place for approximately 18 to 24 months. The new traffic pattern allows crews to build portions of the new I-635 bridges as well as widen the roadway. Information about the DFW Connector project can be found on the DFW Connector website, Facebook page, and Twitter account. For questions, please email DFW Connector staff.
Fairway Drive Update
The Town received word from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that Fairway Drive, also known as the Dam Road, is estimated to re-open in the spring. Please note, this date could move as the weather and unforeseen construction issues will affect its official opening date. It has been closed since August, when the Corps of Engineers closed it to complete necessary repairs for it to be a safe roadway. The Town will continue to provide updates, when information is made available. For additional questions, please call the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Public Affairs Office at 817.886.1306.
