Emergency Permits

What are Emergency Permits?

Emergency permits include Water Heater replacements, HVAC permits, Electrical permits (only when an occupied building is without power), and Plumbing Repair permits (only for an occupied building that is without gas, water, and/or sewer).

Plan Review

Emergency permits are reviewed within 24 hours of submittal, in most cases they are reviewed the same business day.

Inspections

Building Inspections offers a same day inspection for emergency permits in the following situations:

1. If service to an occupied building is disconnected, you may request an emergency inspection by calling our front office at 972-874-6355 prior to 3:30pm any business day. Upon receiving the call, we will dispatch an inspector to arrive within 1 hour. Please be sure the technician remains on site for the inspection.

Once the inspection has been approved, we will send a release to the utility company. Please note that either the technician or homeowner will also need to contact the utility company to request that the service be restored. The utility company will match the request with the release and restore the service to the home.

2. If  the homeowner must be home to allow the inspector access into the home, you may request an emergency inspection by calling our front office at 972-874-6355 prior to 3:30pm any business day. Upon receiving the call, we will dispatch an inspector to arrive within 1 hour. Please be sure the technician remains on site for the inspection. This is most commonly used for water heater and HVAC replacements.

All other inspections for emergency permits should be scheduled on eTRAKiT.
