Pool Evaporation

How much water does my pool need to refill from evaporation?

The average amount of water evaporation during the summer is approximately half of an inch loss per day. Multiplied by seven days, that's 3.5 inches per week. Use the calculation below to get a monthly estimate of the evaporation rate of your pool.

Length X Width X Water loss in feet X Gallons of water in a cubic foot = Gallons of water to refill from evaporation

To get the amount of Water Loss, convert inches into feet. Divide 3.5 inches by 12 for a total of approximately 0.29 feet.

There are 7.48 gallons of water in a cubic foot.

Example: 32 X 13 X .29 X 7.48 = 909 Gallons to refill per week or 3,636 gallons per month.
