Denton County Transportation Authority

OVERVIEW

In accordance with state law ​ (Transportation Code Sec. 460) the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) board is composed of fourteen (14) members who serve two year terms and includes:

(a)    One member appointed by the governing body of each municipality with a population of 17,000 or more that is located in Denton County.

(b)    Three members appointed by the Commissioner’s Court of Denton County, two of whom must be a resident in the unincorporated area of the county.

(c)    Three members to be designated by the remaining municipalities with a population of more than 500 but less than 17,000 located in Denton County.

(d)    One member appointed by the governing body of each municipality in the county with a population of more than 500 but less than 17,000, and with additional stipulations.

Since Flower Mound has a population of over 17,000, the Town has a representative on the Board of Directors for the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA).

​In accordance with DCTA bylaws the Board adopts the annual operating budget and is responsible for setting policy. Board meetings are generally held every fourth Thursday of each month with a work session starting at 1:30 p.m., followed by a regular meeting starting at 3:00 p.m. in the DCTA Board Room, 1955 Lakeway Dr, Ste, 260, Lewisville.

(a) Must be a resident of Denton County
​(b) Must have professional experience in the field of transportation, business, government, engineering or law
