The primary purpose of this division is to categorize and schedule records produced by Town departments. The records management officer administers the records management and archives program, inspects Town records, ascertains the Towns compliance with recordkeeping requirements established by Texas state law.
The division maintains the Towns records center, retrieves and refiles records upon department request and conducts destruction of records when retention time periods have expired.
The Texas Public Information Act (Texas Open Records Act), Chapter 552, Texas Government Code (available in its entirety at www.oag.state.tx.us ) establishes requirements for governmental bodies to respond to written request for access and/or reproductions of public information.
