Town of Flower Mound Implements Stage Two Water Management Measures

Due to on-going dry weather conditions and the resulting water use during times of peak demand, the Town of Flower Mound will implement Stage Two Water management measures beginning Monday, July 24. Flower Mound Town staff will continually monitor peak demand levels and the Town’s water reserves throughout the duration of the summer. The implementation of Stage Two Measures will be reevaluated if conditions return to acceptable levels. In accordance with Town of Flower Mound Ordinance # 35-05, the Stage Two Water Management Measures include the following primary conservation initiatives:

  • Outside water use for residences and businesses located east of FM 2499 will be allowed on even-numbered calendar days
  • Outside water use for residences and businesses located west of FM 2499 will be allowed on odd-numbered calendar days
  • Landscape irrigation will be prohibited on August 1 and September 1
  • Outside water use is restricted for all commercial and residential customers between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily
  • The filling of swimming pools following new construction is allowed during Stage Two Management Measures. However, the filling of existing swimming pools following maintenance is considered outside water use and must comply with the conservation measures

Stage Two Measures are necessary to maintain system integrity, ensure adequate water pressure, and redistribute water demand to consistent levels throughout the day. Town of Flower Mound Utility Services, Code Enforcement, and Police personnel will enforce the Stage Two Water Management Measures. Customers or users of the Town's water system who violate or fail to comply with any provision of the measures could be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and receive up to a $500 fine.
