March 27 / 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Lewisville Municipal Annex
The Lewisville/ Flower Mound teen is hosting a volunteer training session from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on March 27 at the Lewisville Municipal Annex, 1197 W. Main Street. Youth, ages 13 – 17 who are still in high school or home school, are eligible to volunteer as attorneys, bailiffs, judges, jurors, or check-in clerks. The Teen Court is advantageous to both the offender and the volunteers who run it. Teen Court is a great alternative, voluntary program that offers youth offenders an opportunity to perform community service hours and jury terms, in lieu of paying a fine for whatever offense they have been cited for. The youth offender is brought before a jury of their peers, who determine the amount of community service hours to be performed as well as how many jury terms they will have to serve. Lunch will be provided and door prizes will be awarded for attendance and participation. Youth can even earn community service hours for attending the training.
