Utility Companies to Begin Installing Smart Meters
The electricity industry recently began implementing electronic meters, known as Smart Meters, which do not require a meter reader to enter a property to read the amount of energy consumed each month. Oncor is currently in the process of installing Smart Meters in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, including Flower Mound. Co-Serv is also scheduled to install Smart Meters in the near future. Currently, every Flower Mound residence or business has an on-site electric meter that registers the amount of energy consumed.
