The 17th annual Dr. King commemoration is scheduled for 7 p.m. on January 17, at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, 6101 Morriss Road. The theme is "Keeping His Dream Alive." Chief Roy Minter, of the Denton Police Department, will be the guest speaker and Dr. Jerry Roy, Superintendent of Lewisville ISD, will bring greetings to this free event. Boy Scout Troop 822, from Westside Baptist Church will present the colors and entertainment will be provided by the Aetherical Praise Band and students from Lewisville LISD. Winners of the Dr. King Art and Essay Contests will be presented prizes at the program. In celebrating the diversity in our community, the program will end with a Parade of Nations, allowing students from many countries, wearing native attire, to parade to the stage and join the audience in singing "Heal the World." Mayor Jody Smith, will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies.
