Flower Mound Police Department to Help Families By Hosting Free Child Safety Seat Inspection Event
In its commitment to making the youth of our community as safe as possible, the Flower Mound Police Department will host child safety seat inspections from 8 a.m. to noon March 17 at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound, 4400 Long Prairie Rd. Sponsored by Safe Kids USA, Liberty Mutual Insurance, and State Farm Insurance, this free event will help parents learn how to properly secure their child in the family vehicle.
Even though parents may follow safety seat installation instructions and their child may seem comfortable, the seat may not be properly installed. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, numerous surveys on child safety seat use reveal an estimated 80 percent of parents misuse the seats. The Flower Mound Police Department has nationally-certified child safety seat inspectors who will take the time to observe the child in the seat as it is currently being used, inspect the safety seat, and go over proper installation techniques with the parent(s).
