At the invitation of the Town Council, David P. Steiner, President and CEO of Waste Management, Inc., is making an unprecedented visit to Flower Mound on Thursday, August 25 to officially launch the company’s partnership with the Town in providing enhanced solid waste collection and recycling services to the residents and businesses of Flower Mound.
A contract signing ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday at Flower Mound Town Hall, 2121 Cross Timbers, to initiate the company’s Flower Mound program, officially effective on October 1. Recently featured on the TV show "Undercover Boss," Waste Management is providing enhanced service levels, increased environmental benefits, and an expanded recycling program, all at reduced rates.
The new service includes weekly, semi-automated waste collection; weekly recycling collection; weekly bulk/brush pick-up; and on-call household hazardous and electronic waste services. Of particular note in Waste Management’s proposal, were benefits to the Town, the residents, and local businesses in the form of $1.1 million in annual savings and additional revenue. The contract will provide an approximate $2.50, or 23 percent, reduction in monthly residential rates and a 17 percent reduction in most commercial accounts.
