FMFD Gas Well Response - Sunday, June 3
The Flower Mound Fire Department received a call at approximately 9:33 on Sunday, July 3 regarding a potential leak at a gas well located in the 3600 block of Shiloh Road. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 9:37 and discovered that natural gas and water was escaping through a small hole in a 2" pipe at the well head. They monitored the scene until a technician arrived and stopped the leak.
The fire department conducted air monitoring on site and was unable to locate any plume at ground level. Natural gas is lighter than air, and what did escape dissipated into the atmosphere. The Town's oil and gas inspector also responded to the scene, and the Town is reporting this incident to TCEQ.
