Sprinkler Ordinance Prohibits Use During Freezing Weather
As winter approaches and temperatures begin to drop, Flower Mound Emergency Management personnel are requesting that all residents, home owners associations, and commercial property owners be aware that the Town of Flower Mound adopted an ordinance regulating the use of sprinklers when temperatures are at or below freezing. Flower Mound experiences several automobile accidents each winter due to sprinklers that were in operation during a time of below freezing temperatures. Frozen runoff from automatic sprinklers often creates icy patches on the Town’s roadways, resulting in hazardous driving conditions that are difficult for drivers to navigate. Please review Town of Flower Mound Ordinance No. 24-10 for more information, adjust automatic watering schedules as necessary, and ensure your sprinklers are not endangering the safety of others.
