Do you have a child who is entering second or third grade, and has a reading disability? The Flower Mound Public Library offers a program to help students who meet these two criteria increase their willingness to read. Sit! Stay!! READ!!! matches qualifying students with volunteer dog owners who, along with their dogs, have been certified to participate in animal-assisted activities. Students meet once a week at the library to read aloud to their dog partner. Participation in this program helps students learn to enjoy reading and school. Due to the one-on-one nature of this program and the limited availability of certified volunteers, placements are limited to 12-15 students per school year. To find out if your student qualifies, please contact Sue Ridnour at 972.874.6153, or sue.ridnour@flower-mound.com.
