Resident Academy: Sept. 13 - Oct. 25
The Flower Mound Fire Department is proud to announce two upcoming fire academies. The Youth Fire Academy, designed for youth who will be entering the seventh or eighth grade, is scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m., August 2 through 5 at the Central Fire Station, 3838 Forums Drive. Registration begins June 1, and the class is limited to 15 participants. The Citizen’s Fire Academy is scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. September 13 through October 25, at Central Fire Station. Registration begins July 1, and the class is limited to 15 participants. Both academies will introduce students to the world of fire protection and emergency medical services, the history of fire service and the Flower Mound Fire Department, fire cause and origin and basic fire science. Participants will also learn about protective equipment and clothing and the use of fire extinguishers and hose streams through “hands-on” instruction. Registration for the youth academy must be completed in-person at the Central Fire Station. Registration for the resident academy may be completed in person, or via fax or email utilizing the downloadable application.
