RTC Funds Flower Mound Thoroughfare Through Sustainable Development Grant
The North Central Texas Council of Governments’ Regional Transportation Council recently approved $2.9 million in funding through the Sustainable Development Call for Projects to fund the construction of Windsor Lane in Flower Mound. The goal of the Sustainable Development Call for Projects is to foster public-private partnerships by identifying and providing funding for the planning and construction of public infrastructure improvements related to private mixed-use developments which reduce vehicle miles traveled and the overall demand for transportation facilities. NCTCOG staff evaluated the eligibility and provided scores and rankings for the projects submitted for funding. The Town of Flower Mound submitted the Windsor Lane project due to the significant contribution it will make to improving traffic flow in the Flower Mound Downtown District near the new Texas Health Presbyterian hospital and the adjacent development. The project will also include bicycle and pedestrian trail connections and improved neighborhood access to the District. The Windsor Lane project will be funded through regional toll revenue generated by SH 121 and will be matched with approximately $750,000 in local funding.
