Due to an abundance of recent rainfall, lower average temperatures, and a trend of reduced water usage during peak demand periods, the Town of Flower Mound lifted Stage Two Water Restrictions on Tuesday, August 26. Residents and businesses throughout Flower Mound are now encouraged to water on the day of the week of their choosing. The Town’s seasonal Stage One Water Awareness measures, prohibiting automatic lawn and garden watering irrigation watering between the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., will remain in effect through October 31. Irrigation of landscape areas is permitted at anytime by means of hand-held hose, faucet-filled bucket, or drip irrigation. For more information, call 972.539.SERV.

The 5th annual Battle for the Diamond softball game between the Flower Mound Police and Fire Departments is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20 at Gerault Park. Pregame activities begin at 5 p.m. with the first pitch at 6 p.m. The first pitch will be thrown out by Police Officer Kevin Schmidt, a nine-year veteran of the Police Department who received near fatal injuries while on traffic patrol July 25, 2007. Flower Mound’s thoroughfare system is poised to receive a much-anticipated booster shot in the form of regional funding that will greatly improve the Town’s major roads on a much faster scale than previously scheduled. The Regional Transportation Council (RTC) recently approved the new Regional Toll Revenue Project Plan, which included more than $105 million for eight separate construction projects that are partly or wholly within the Town of Flower Mound. - (Read More)

Notice of Tax Revenue Increase
The Town of Flower Mound conducted public hearings on August 28, 2008 and September 2, 2008 on a proposal to increase the total tax revenues of the Town of Flower Mound from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 2.34 percent.

Doggie Dunk Cancelled
The Town of Flower Mound has cancelled the Doggie Dunk scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 6 due to feedback from the community indicating minimal attendance for the event. Town staff apologizes for any inconvenience created by this cancellation and remains committed to developing special events that serve the residents of Flower Mound.

Denton County Hurricane Gustav Evacuee Assistance
The Denton County Office of Emergency Management has established a Help Line to provide information to hurricane self evacuees who have relocated to Denton County. The self evacuees in Denton County can contact the Help Line at 940. 349. 4270 to obtain information about local hotels, motels, banks, food banks, stores, and other relevant information The Help Line will be in operation from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1 through Wednesday, September 3.

West Nile Mosquito Control Spraying
The Texas Department of State Health Services has reported that a mosquito collected in the Bridlewood area of Flower Mound has tested positive for carrying the West Nile virus. Because of this, the Town of Flower Mound will conduct spraying operations in the areas generally located west of Long Prairie Road to Lusk Lane and north from Cross Timbers Road to Waketon Road from 10 p.m. on Thursday, September 4 through 4 a.m. on Friday, September 5.

FMPD Fall Citizen Police Academy
The Flower Mound Police Department will offer the popular Citizen Police Academy this fall for Flower Mound residents. The free, 11-week course will explore the inner workings of the Police Department. Classes will meet Thursdays from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and one Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. beginning September 4 in the Police training facility, 4150 Kirkpatrick Lane.
