The Hound Mound at Heritage Park is the Town's 5-acre dog park located on the east side of Heritage Park, as part of the park's phase II plan. Residents provided their ideas for the park's name, and the Town Council approved it on October 19, 2015. The park has separate areas for small and large dogs, and amenities include natural shade, hybrid Bermuda turf, irrigation, seating areas with water fountains, dog rinse stations, trash receptacles, pet waste stations, landscaping, and 40 parking spaces*.  Plus the park has two large dog areas that are rotated seasonally to help keep the grass green and reduce muddy areas.

Attention Hound Mound park-goers; starting Thursday, September 1, the current large dog area of the park will be transitioned to the previously closed area across the footbridge. These two areas will be periodically switched by Flower Mound Parks and Recreation in order to minimize wear and tear, and allow sod to reestablish. The closed area will be locked, and signs will be posted directing users to the new area.
