NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Local Competition Results

Flower Mound Brings Home Six Awards at TFEA Conference

For the first time, the Town of Flower Mound was recognized with several awards at the Texas Festivals and Events Association's (TFEA) annual conference. Flower Mound Parks and Recreation took home three first-place Kaliff Marketing Awards of Excellence for Best TV Promotion (Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony), Best Miscellaneous Clothing (Dorothy's Dash), and Best Event/Organization Newsletter (Adventures Guide). The Town was also awarded second-place for Best TV Promotion (Independence Fest), in addition to two third-place awards for Best TV Promotion (July Parks and Recreation Month, and Concerts in the Park).
The Texas Festivals and Events Association represent the hundreds of festivals that celebrate the history, legends, culture, art, folklore, and natural beauty of the Lone Star State. Members of TFEA are given a platform to learn, grow, and increase professional standards and practices surrounding the creation, implementation, and marketing of special events and festivals.

Heritage Park Phase 2B
Heritage 2BOn January 19, Northstar Construction, LLC kicked off the Heritage Park Phase 2B project. This phase is expected to take 10 months, and residents can look forward to improvements that include: 88 additional lighted parking spaces; a one-acre pond with boardwalk, fountain, underwater LED lighting, and a waterfall feature; 11 picnic stations with tables; and additional concrete trails. Flower Mound Parks and Recreation staff ask that during the course of construction residents use the western entrance of Heritage Park, which is closest to Fire Station 5. Construction for Phase 2B will not interfere with the use of Fort Wildflower or the pavilion.

Twin Coves Park - Closed For Renovation/Construction
Twin Coves Park is currently closed as the Town is currently constructing 19 furnished cabins and 18 new RV slips, in addition to a variety of other amenities. Construction began in January  of 2016, and the park is expected to reopen in the spring of 2017 due to weather delays and lake flooding.

Town Receives Texas Parks and Wildlife Grant for Twin Coves Park Project
Thanks to a $400,000 Texas Parks and Wildlife Outdoor Recreation grant, the Town of Flower Mound will be able to add a few more wish list items to the planned Twin Coves Park upgrades which began early this year. Crews are constructing 19 furnished cabins and 18 new RV slips, in addition to a variety of other amenities including: small craft launch with fishing pier, disc golf course, playground, two 25’ x 35’ pavilions, grass volleyball court, a great lawn area, nature trails, and a lake overlook area with a fire pit and seating. Each RV slip will be equipped with the latest 50 amp utility hookups that will accommodate the newest and largest RVs.

Flower Mound Parks and Recreation Win Gold Medal Award
Gold Medal AwardThe Town of Flower Mound was recently recognized for its excellence in the field of Parks and Recreation Management by the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS). The Town was selected to receive the 2015 Texas Gold Medal Award, which honors communities throughout the state that demonstrate excellence in long-range planning, resource management, community programs and events, marketing efforts, and agency recognition during the last three years.

Flower Mound is the only Class III city (Populations 50,001 to 100,000) in the state to receive this designation in 2015. The TRAPS award was officially presented at the TRAPS Annual Institute in Abilene on March 5, and a presentation was made at the Town's PALS Board meeting on March 17 (pictured).  

Park Improvements
The Parks and Recreation Division is working hard to enhance the quality of life of Flower Mound residents, including updating and renovating many Flower Mound playgrounds and parks. Take a look at the Park Improvements page, or submit a request to improve your favorite park.

Flower Mound Park Pavilions
Rent one of our beautiful park pavilions for your next party or event. The Parks and Recreation Division maintains several pavilions throughout the Town including the newest pavilion at The Heritage Park of Flower Mound, adjacent to the Fort Wildflower community built playground. Park facility reservations can be scheduled up to six months in advance. Reservations must be made in person at the CAC during regular business hours (M-F, 8:00am-5:00pm). Adventures Online Registration
The Town of Flower Mound is excited to offer online registration through the Adventures Online Registration system. Residents can access up-to-date information and register for Recreation, Athletics, and Senior programming, and renew their CAC memberships 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
