Flower Mound Fire Department supports the American Heart Association's Hands-Only™ CPR. Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public location die because they don't receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. As a bystander, don't be afraid. Your actions can only help. When calling 911, you will be asked for your location. Be specific, especially if you’re calling from a mobile phone as that is not associated with a fixed address. Answering the dispatcher’s questions will not delay the arrival of help. We know that high quality, uninterrupted chest compressions initiated as soon as possible after an adult has cardiac arrest (their heart stops pumping) can triple their chances of survival. Learning Hands-Only CPR for adults is simple, fast and FREE!
This course is a one-hour, quick, upbeat, and informal class designed for community awareness of hands only CPR, and will teach participants how to start CPR right away and continue doing chest compressions until help arrives. Participants will learn about cardiac arrest and how to recognize it’s happening, the three simple steps of Hands-only CPR, and receive a basic overview of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Training in Hands-Only CPR gives members of our local community the ability to help save a life without using mouth-to-mouth ventilations.
