Dedicated Sales Tax Election 2015
In November 2007, voters approved four one-quarter cents of sales tax be dedicated for parks and recreation, street maintenance, crime control, and fire control; and in 2011, voters reauthorized this measure for street maintenance, crime control, and fire control.

In August 2015, the Town Council called a subsequent election for Flower Mound voters to consider the four-year reauthorization of the street maintenance sales tax for November 3, 2015. This dedicated street maintenance sales tax pays for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Flower Mound roadways.

Denton County Early Voting Dates: October 19-24, 26-30

Election Day: November 3, 2015, polling hours - 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Flower Mound Public Library, 3030 Broadmoor Lane

  • Maximum combined sales tax rate in Texas is 8.25 percent
  • The State of Texas levies a sales tax of 6.25 percent
  • Municipalities may levy a sales tax of 1.0 percent for general fund and up to an additional 1.0 percent for dedicated purposes
  • Flower Mound’s current tax rate is 8.25 percent
  • If the Street Maintenance Dedicated Sales Tax is reauthorized, the sales tax rate in Flower Mound will remain 8.25 percent
  • Historically, more than half of sales tax collected is from non-residents
