Star Media Group
Highlighting the Town’s mission to provide outstanding facilities that meet residents’ recreational needs, local readers the “Lewisville Leader” and the “Flower Mound Leader” voted Bakersfield Park as the “Best of the Best” in the Arena/Stadium category. In addition, our partnership with the community’s youth sports associations have proved invaluable to ensure this park remains an award-winning facility. Located at 1201 Duncan Lane, Bakersfield Park opened in fall 2004 and features a baseball and soccer complex, a pavilion, and a multi-use trail.

The Dallas Regional Chamber
In 2010, the Dallas Regional Chamber recognized the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Flower Mound with the Corporate Location Momentum Award. The Momentum Awards recognize companies that have made a positive impact on the economy through job growth, location, and expansion, and have contributed to the vitality of the DFW Metroplex. Flower Mound’s Economic Development Division nominated the hospital in the “Corporate Location: New / Other Facility” category, which recognizes businesses that have located or expanded their operations to the Dallas region.
Why it was Chosen
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital was chosen for its employment of more than 300 people and generation of additional medical-related development. The facility opened in April. The award was presented at the Momentum Dallas Ceremony and Awards Luncheon on Friday, November 12. The Dallas Regional Chamber promotes regional prosperity through public policy, economic development, and member engagement.
The Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Flower Mound is a four-story, 103-bed, 185,000-square-foot facility. The facility has more than 400 physicians on staff and offers surgical services, a fully functional emergency room that is open 24/7, an intensive care unit, labor and delivery services, full radiology and imaging services, cardiology services, and a full service café. Created with the environment in mind, it also received a design award from Modern Healthcare.
Fire Chief Magazine
The Flower Mound Fire Department opened two new stations in 2010 to a significant amount of local acclaim. The new No. 4 and No. 5 stations also garnered national recognition as both facilities were honored with design awards. FIRE CHIEF Magazine ranked Station #4 in its tenth annual Station Style Awards. The prestigious competition recognizes architects and fire departments for their achievements in fire station design and construction. In addition, Station #5 was also honored by the Fire Industry Equipment Research Organization’s Fire Facilities Design Awards.
Texas Trails Network
In 2009, the Texas Trails Network awarded the Flower Mound Trails Master Plan with two prestigious designations, providing statewide recognition for the network of hike, bike, and equestrian trails. Former Park Board Chair Mike McCall won the “Great Texas Trail Boss” service award for his leadership throughout the Trails Master Plan update in 2007 and former Director of Parks and Recreation Mel Rapp won the “Great Texas Trail Head” planning and design award for his original visionary plan of the Town’s pedestrian infrastructure.
