In order to obtain a Burn Permit, call 972-874-6270.
Firefighters will come out Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 11: 00 a.m. to conduct an inspection.
Return completed inspection forms to Fire Administration Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A permit will be issued at this time and a fee of 75.00 will be collected.
Burn permits are good for 14 days, and may be extended 14 more days if calling 972-874-6270 prior to expiration date.

BURN DAY: |
Determined by the On-duty Captain. Requirements: Wind speed forecast of 10mph or less, Non Ozone Alert day, no burn ban in effect, no red flag or high hazard days. |
GENERAL: |
Open burning shall be conducted as required by other governing agencies regulating emissions, i.e. Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission. |
CLEARANCES: |
Open burning is NOT permitted on lots less than 5 acres. Open burning shall not be conducted within 500 feet of any structure, property lines, or other combustible materials, i.e. trees, bushes, power lines, etc. |
PILE SIZE: |
The burn pile shall be no larger than 5 feet in diameter and 5 feet in height. |
ATTENDANCE: |
A competent adult shall continuously attend the burn pile until the fire is extinguished. This person shall have a garden hose connected to a water source or other approved fire extinguishing equipment readily available for use. |
HOURS: |
Hours of burning shall be confined to the hours of sunrise to sunset. |
DISCONTINUANCE: |
The Chief or his authorized representative is authorized to require that open burning be immediately discontinued if it is determined that smoke emissions are offensive to occupants surrounding property or if the open burning is determined to constitute a hazardous condition. |
PERMISSION: |
The person burning shall call the Fire Department Communications Center at (972) 539-0525 PRIOR to burning EACH DAY. |
FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE ABOVE RULES MAY RESULT IN THE ISSUANCE OF A CITATION AND/OR LOSS OF FUTURE BURNING PRIVILEGES.
