Handling of Household Chemicals
Handle all household chemicals carefully. Do not dispose of down the drain, in the regular trash, in storm drains, pour it on the ground or mix with other chemicals. Improper disposal can pollute our environment and pose a threat to human health.
Many common household products contain toxic ingredients. Check product labels for toxic ingredients, safe use, and proper disposal.
Never mix two different products. This can cause toxic fumes, fires, chemical burns, and explosions leading to death or injury.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Purchase hazardous materials thoughtfully. If you don’t need but a few ounces, purchase the smallest size that will work for your immediate needs or check to see if family or friends has some.
If a product is still usable, try to give it to someone who can use it. It is not “waste” if someone else can use it.
Use alternative products that are safer and less toxic. This will keep our water and soil safe and uncontaminated and you won’t have to worry about disposing of them.

Remember – what we don’t reduce, reuse or recycle properly today will be here to contaminate the water, soil, and air for generations to come.
