Flower Mound maintains 480 acres of parkland which includes approximately 30 miles of multi-purpose trail systems linking together neighborhoods, schools and businesses; 2.5 miles of equestrian trails, 21 baseball/softball fields, 10 practice fields, 14 soccer game fields and seven practice soccer fields. The parks offer a variety of playscapes, covered picnic shelters, cooking grills, multi-purpose trails, basketball play pads and ball fields. Sports enthusiasts enjoy youth and adult softball, baseball, soccer, tennis, basketball, and flag football leagues that run throughout the year. A new lighted ball field complex, Gerault Park was built in 1999 and an addition to add Gerault Park Phase II to include additional soccer fields and a youth athletic facility to include a top-notched youth baseball and youth softball facility. The Parks & Recreation Department also sponsors youth sports activities including baseball, softball, soccer, track & field; punt, pass & kick competitions; summer sports camps, and tennis camps. Adult sports enthusiast's can enjoy flag football leagues, softball leagues and tournaments, basketball and tennis leagues.
