Of the 19 LISD schools in Flower Mound, 18 were rated exemplary by the Texas Education Agency based on 90 percent or better passing rate in all TAKS subjects for all students and all student groups that meet minimum size criteria, a completing rate of at least 95 percent and an annual dropout rate of 2 percent or lower.
There are approximately 27 four-year colleges and universities near Flower Mound, including the University of North Texas (36,067 students) and Texas Woman’s University (14,180 students), both located in Denton. In addition, there are more than 25 community colleges in the area.
In January 2011, North Central Texas College opened a new extension campus in Flower Mound’s Parker Square. The new location, a 32,000-square-foot building, will better meet the needs of residents in the south portion of Denton County and help serve the significant growth NCTC has experienced. NCTC began holding classes at the campus in Spring 2011 with a beginning enrollment of 900 students.
More than 85% of the adult population has had post-secondary education, offering employers some of the highest skilled worked in the North Texas Area.
