Education
Education is an important factor for Flower Mound businesses and residents. More than 85% of the adult population has had post-secondary education and the Town's highly rated school system provides top-quality instruction for the younger generation. Most every school in Flower Mound is rated "Exemplary" by the Texas Education Agency.
The majority of Flower Mound is served by the Lewisville Independent School District (LISD). LISD encompasses 130 square miles and serves nine communities. Enrollment in Flower Mound in the 2008-09 school year was 17,790. Student achievement on the Texas Assessment of Acknowledge and Skills (TAKS) for 2007-08 indicates mastery levels at 95% in applicable test areas including reading, mathematics, writing and science.
LISD invested $26.8 million in Flower Mound schools in 2008/2009 to date in various remodel or addition projects and is currently working to construct two ninth grade campuses. Construction is underway for the Marcus Ninth Grade Center with an anticipated completion date of 2013, and the Flower Mound Ninth Grade Center is scheduled for construction with anticipated completion in 2013.
