Roads

Lane Closures – Flower Mound Road (Old Settlers Rd – FM2499)

Tuesday Sept. 7 starting at 9 a.m. various lanes on Flower Mound Rd between Old Settlers and FM2499 will be closed in preparation of following days shifting traffic to southern lanes. Beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, all traffic on Flower Mound Rd between Old Settlers Rd and FM 2499 will be directed to the southern lanes. Traffic shall be restricted to one lane in each direction on the south side of the median while the lanes on the northern side of the median are under construction. After the northern lanes are reconstructed, traffic will be switched to one lane in each direction on the north side of the median while the southern lanes are reconstructed. Traffic on Flower Mound Rd will be restricted to one lane in each direction for the duration of the Flower Mound Road Reconstruction project with an estimated completion date of July 2011. Traffic delays are to be expected. Please plan travel accordingly.

Lane Closure - FM 2499

The outside lane on south bound FM 2499 north of Windsor will be closed from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm starting on Tuesday, August 31st, for a period of 10 days.

Hamlett Lane

This project will consist of pavement reconstruction between Churchill Drive east to end of the cul-de-sac.

Status:
The project was awarded to 3D Paving and Contracting, LLC and is scheduled to begin construction September 2010.

September 2010

Estimated completion date:
January 2011

Project Budget:
$450,000.00

Work Completed:
Design in 100% complete.

What to expect in the next month:
The northern lane of Hamlett Lane and the cul-de-sac will continue to be under construction; only the southern lane will be open to traffic.  No parking will be allowed on Hamlett Lane or the cul-de-sac during construction.

Dixon Lane

This project will upgrade the existing two-lane asphalt roadway to a four-lane concrete road from FM 2499 to Crestside Drive.

Status:
Design is complete.

Start date:
October 2010

October 2011

$6,478,000

Work Completed:
Design is 100% complete.  Contract awarded.

What to expect in the next month:
Utility relocation work to begin.

Flower Mound Road

This project will replace the existing two-lane asphalt roadway with a four-lane concrete paving from Skillern Road to FM 1171 and will upgrade the roadway to include curb and gutter and a center median; it will extend the 16” water main along Flower Mound Road and Quail Run Rd to Liberty Elementary School; and will replace the existing two-lane asphalt roadway on Quail Run Road to a two-lane concrete roadway with curb and gutter, sidewalks, and dedicated turn lanes at Flower Mound Road and Liberty Elementary School.  

The first part of the project will consist of rebuilding Quail Run Rd between Liberty Elementary School and Flower Mound Road.  The new lanes of Flower Mound Road adjacent to the existing road and in the open field will then be constructed while maintaining two-way traffic on the existing Flower Mound Road and the traffic will be switched to the new lanes while the remaining lanes are constructed.

The project is currently under construction by Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating, Inc.

Work Completed:
The work on Quail Run Road between Flower Mound Road and Liberty Elementary School is complete.  The remainder of the project has been rough graded and the majority of the water main extension has been installed.

What to expect in the next month:
The construction of the culvert, storm drainage, and water main along Flower Mound Road will continue during the month of September.

The new lanes of Flower Mound Road adjacent to the existing road and in the open field will then be constructed while maintaining two-way traffic on the existing Flower Mound Road and then the traffic will be switched to the new lanes while the remaining lanes are constructed.

Flower Mound Road Reconstruction Phase I

This project consists of the reconstruction of Flower Mound Road from Old Settlers Road to 300 feet west of Long Prairie Road (FM 2499). This will provide for an improved roadway profile. The realignment at the intersection of Stanford Drive will improve sight lines and safety and will provide additional storage lengths of turn lanes. There will be limited access to a number of the intersections as they are constructed.

Status:
The project was awarded to TISEO Paving Company Inc. Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2010.

July 2011

Project Budget:
$2,353,000

Work Completed:
Some of the utility relocations have been completed.

What to expect in the next month:
Construction will begin with the lanes to the north of the median between Old Settlers Road and Stanford.  Westbound traffic on Flower Mound Road between Old Settlers and Long Prairie Road will be redirected to the south side of the median with one lane of traffic in each direction.

FM 1171

Phase 1 of this Texas Department of Transportation project will consist of the widening of the existing two-lane roadway to a six-lane divided thoroughfare from FM 2499 to Shiloh Road.

Phase 2 extends the improvements from Shiloh to US-377

Phase 3 extends the improvements from US-377 to IH-35W 

Status:
Phase 1 - currently under construction by Glen Thurman, Inc.
Phases 2 and 3 - currently under design and property acquisition

Start date:
Phase 1 - February 2008

Estimated completion date:
Phase 1 - May 2011 

Work Completed:
The eastbound lanes, associated landscaping, and sidewalks are 98% complete. The Regency Park Place and Churchill Drive intersections and the Flower Mound Town Center drive approaches are complete.

What to expect in the next month:              
Work will continue on sidewalks and landscaping between FM 2499 and Huntwick Lane. Work will begin on traffic lane markings and signage in anticipation of the opening of the eastbound lanes between FM 2499 to Huntwick Lane to traffic in October. Work will continue on westbound lanes from Huntwick Lane to Shiloh Road.

FM 407  

This Texas Department of Transportation project consists of widening the existing FM 407 two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided thoroughfare from Chinn Chapel Rd to Briar Hill Rd. The construction contract has been awarded. Relocation of existing utilities that are in conflict is underway. Anticipated start of construction on the roadway project is August 2010. Anticipated completion of construction is April 2011.

Relocation of utilities is currently underway.

Work Completed:
The construction contract for this project was bid and awarded with a delayed notice to proceed.

What to expect in the next month:
Roadway construction will continue and it is anticipated that the utility relocations will be complete.

Garden Ridge

This project will construct a new four-lane concrete curb and gutter roadway section between FM 3040 and Spinks Rd, including two bridges. 

Status:
The project is currently under construction.

Work Completed:
Right-of-way clearing is 100% complete.

Pier drilling and utility installation will continue.

Morriss/Gerault Improvement Project Phase 1

This phase consists of the addition of two inside lanes (one northbound and one southbound) to Gerault Road between FM 2499 and FM 3040 and improving the intersections at FM 407, FM 1171, and FM 3040; additionally, traffic signals will be added to the intersections with Spinks Road, Garden Road, Sagebrush Drive, and Buckeye Drive.  Phase 1 will also add landscaping to the medians, provide for new sidewalk in locations where there previously was no existing sidewalk, widen most existing sidewalks to six feet and replace existing wooden fences along the Morriss/Gerault corridor from FM 2499 to FM 407.

Status:
Currently under construction by TISEO Paving Company, Inc.

$19,000,000

Work Completed:
The paving is 50% complete.  The work at Garden Road intersection has been completed.

What to expect in the next month:
The work at the intersections of Morriss Road and FM 3040 and Morriss Road and Firewheel Drive will continue.  Median grading in preparation for landscaping and irrigation will continue.  Irrigation and landscaping will begin.  Work on the flyover at Gerault Road and FM 2499 will start.

Spinks Road Phase IV

This project will complete the four-lane concrete curb and gutter roadway section between Garden Ridge Road and Duncan Road.

This project is currently under construction.

Work Completed:
The paving and bridge work are 95% complete and the work on T-80 railings is 25% complete.

What to expect in the next month:
The work on the westbound bridge and the stone work on eastbound bridge railings will continue and is expected to be completed within the next month.

Utility Projects

Kirkpatrick Force Main

This project will provide for a 12-inch wastewater force main to be constructed from the Kirkpatrick Lift Station at the Prairie Creek Crossing, south along Kirkpatrick Lane, west along FM 1171, crossing Timber Creek Road and connecting to the existing interceptor to the north of Timber Creek and Parker Square.

Status:
The project is currently under construction by TNT’s Pipeline Corp.

Work Completed:
The force main work is 95% complete

What to expect in the next month:
The flow meter installation, landscaping, turf establishment, and sidewalk/pavement repairs are scheduled to be completed.

Oncor Electric Facilities Improvement Project

Oncor Electric will be updating the existing pole system along Old Settlers from McKamy to Peters Colony.

Status:
This project is currently under construction.

Start date:
May 6, 2010

Work Completed:
Underground conduit is 90% complete. Overhead poles and wire are in place. Some poles have been removed.

What to expect in the next month:
Periodically Old Settlers Road may be reduced to one lane.  Underground conduit expected to be completed and communication to transfer to new poles during the next month.

Community Activity Center Drainage

Currently the north and west side of the building experiences standing water. The design proposed will include collecting water from the roof drains, installing area drains, and provide for release in the north detention pond.

Parks and Recreation

Green Ribbon Design - ROW Beautification

Status:
This project adds landscaping and irrigation to the FM 2499 medians from Enterprise Drive to Justin Road.

Work zone warning signs have been installed.

Hilltop Park Walkways and Westchester Park Playground

The Hilltop Park Walkways project, located at 4975 Timber Creek Road, includes approximately 2,960 linear feet of new six-foot wide concrete walkways linking together the accessible parking to the ball fields, concession/restroom building, playground, basketball court, and the neighborhood. The Westchester Park Playground projects include the replacement of an existing aging play sets.

Status:
Construction is underway.

Hilltop Walkways - $142,000
Westchester Park Playground - $150,000

Hilltop and Westchester are 99% complete.  Both are open to the public.

Hilltop Walkways - minor drainage work at southwest corner of park and grass seeding to be completed by mid-September.
Westchester Park Playground - additional enhancements pending approval.
