Construction Updates

Gerault Road & FM 2499 - Intersection/Lane Closures

Various lane closures will be occurring intermittently at the intersection of FM 2499 and Gerault Road through January in order to allow for the construction of the flyover. Every effort possible will be made to maintain efficient traffic flow, and at no time will more than one lane be closed in any given direction. Motorists are advised to anticipate localized traffic delays during this time, and utilize Lakeside Parkway as an alternate east-west route to access SH 121. Please visit www.flower-mound.com and observe signage at the site to obtain information about specific lane closures and times. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time of progress.

Heritage Park at Flower Mound – Lane Closure

The right hand westbound lane of Spinks Road, between Gerault Road and Garden Ridge Blvd., will be closed from December 13 through February 10, 2012. This closure is necessary in order to construct the turn lanes.

 

Roadway Projects

2011 Paving Reconstruction - College Parkway

This project consists of the pavement reconstruction of the northern side of College Parkway, from Kirkpatrick Lane to 373 ft west of Colony Street. Traffic will be directed to the southern side of the median during the reconstruction of the northern lanes. There will be limited access at the Colony Street intersection as it is constructed.

Status:
The project is currently under construction by Jet Underground Utilities Inc.

Start Date:
August 2011

Estimated completion date:
May 2012

Project Budget:
$430,000.00

Work Completed:
Pavement from Kirkpatrick to Colony has been completed.

What to expect in the next month:
The remainder pavement and irrigation repairs are expected to be completed in February.

2011 Paving Reconstruction - Gregory Drive

This project consists of the pavement reconstruction of Gregory Drive, the entire loop from Colony Street to Colony Street. This project will be constructed in three phases. The eastern side of Gregory from Colony Street north to the ninety degree turn will be first, followed by the west side of Gregory from Colony Street north to the ninety degree turn and then complete the north side of Gregory loop. There will be limited access to residences during each phase of the construction.

Status:
The project is currently under construction by Jet Underground Utilities Inc.

March 2011

Estimated completion date:
March 2012

Project Budget:
$570,000.00

Work Completed:
The new water main has been installed. Water meters have been relocated.

What to expect in the next month:
Project is on hold until Verizon lines are relocated.  Once Verizon lines are relocated, construction will resume. Franchise utility relocations will continue. The (east/west) middle section of Gregory Drive pavement removal is expected to start in late February.  Residents adjacent to the removal will have to park on either of the north/south sections of Gregory Drive until the new pavement is placed. The Town will notify residents with door hangers before resuming pavement reconstruction.

2011 Paving Reconstruction - Sagebrush Drive

This project consists of the pavement reconstruction of Sagebrush Drive, from Morris Road to Yucca Drive. Traffic shall be directed to the southern side of the median during the reconstruction of the northern lanes. After they are completed, traffic will switch to the north side and the southern lanes will be completed. There will be limited access to a number of the intersections as they are constructed.

$900,000.00

Work Completed:
Northern lanes are completed.

What to expect in the next month:
The eastbound lanes, utility adjustments, and sidewalks are anticipated to be completed in February.  Landscaping and irrigation repairs remain.

Dixon Lane

This project will upgrade the existing two-lane asphalt roadway to a four-lane concrete road from FM 2499 to Crestside Drive.

Status:
Construction started on January 18, 2011. 

Start date:
January 2011

Estimated completion date:
June 2012

Project Budget:
$6,478,000

Work Completed:
Utility and drainage work have been completed. ROW has been cleared. Southern lanes are complete. All lanes are open.

What to expect in the next month:
Dixon Lane and FM 2499 intersection work and project clean-up expected in February.

Flower Mound Road

This project will replace the existing two-lane asphalt roadway with a four-lane concrete paving from Skillern Road to FM 1171 and will upgrade the roadway to include curb and gutter and a center median and will replace the existing two-lane asphalt roadway on Quail Run Road to a two-lane concrete roadway with curb and gutter, sidewalks, and dedicated turn lanes at Flower Mound Road and Liberty Elementary School.  

Status:
The project is currently under construction by Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating, Inc.

May 2010

Estimated completion date:
August 2011 - substantially complete

Project Budget:
$6,412,000

Work Completed:
Project is 95% complete.

What to expect in the next month:
Continue to work on turf establishment and punch list items in February.

FM 407

This Texas Department of Transportation project consists of widening the existing FM 407 two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided thoroughfare from Chinn Chapel Rd to Briar Hill Rd. The construction contract has been awarded. Relocation of existing utilities that are in conflict is underway.

Status:
The project is under construction.

Start date:
September 2010

Estimated completion date:
February 2013

Work Completed:
Phase I of the project has been completed which included the installation of the construction traffic control signage and barricades and the removal of the existing center median within the construction zone.  

Temporary signal at Market Place activated.

The installation of the storm sewer along the south side of the project has been completed. The installation of the storm sewer lines crossing FM 407 and those located on the north side of FM 407 are partially complete.

What to expect in the next month:
Work will continue on storm sewer installation as soon as conflicts with franchise utilities (gas and telephone) are resolved. A time frame on the resolution of the utility conflicts is yet to be determined.

FM 1171

Phase 1 of this Texas Department of Transportation project will consist of the widening of the existing two-lane roadway to a six-lane divided thoroughfare from FM 2499 to Shiloh Road.

Phase 2 extends the improvements from Shiloh to US-377

Phase 3 extends the improvements from US-377 to IH-35W 

Status:
Phase 1 - currently under construction by Glen Thurman, Inc.
Phases 2 and 3 - currently under design and property acquisition. Anticipated start of construction is November 2012.

Start date:
Phase 1 - February 2008

Estimated completion date:
Phase 1 - Substantially completed

Work Completed:
All lanes are complete and open to traffic. All traffic signals are fully operational.

The irrigation system and associated irrigation system has been completed on landscaping mounds located on the north side of FM 1171 from Trotter Lane to Bridlewood Boulevard.

What to expect in the next month:             
Installation of grass sod at various places along the full length of the project is left to be completed.  This installation is anticipated to be completed in April 2012.

Garden Ridge, Phase III

This project will construct a new four-lane concrete curb and gutter roadway section between FM 3040 and Spinks Rd, including two bridges. 

Status:
The project is currently under construction.

$5,700,000

Work Completed:
All roadway and bridge work is completed.

Final cleanup to continue in February.

Morriss/Gerault Improvement Project Phase 1

This phase consists of the addition of two inside lanes (one northbound and one southbound) to Gerault Road between FM 2499 and FM 3040 and improving the intersections at FM 407, FM 1171, and FM 3040; additionally, traffic signals will be added to the intersections with Spinks Road, Garden Road, Sagebrush Drive, and Buckeye Drive.  Phase 1 will also add landscaping to the medians, provide for new sidewalk in locations where there previously was no existing sidewalk, widen most existing sidewalks to six feet and replace existing wooden fences along the Morriss/Gerault corridor from FM 2499 to FM 407.

Status:
Currently under construction by TISEO Paving Company, Inc.

June 2010

Estimated completion date:
July 2012

Project Budget:
$20.3 Million

Work Completed:
The paving is 95% complete.  The sidewalk is 95% complete. The fences and Baker's Branch bridge are complete.

What to expect in the next month:
Work at the intersection of Morriss Road and FM 407 is expected to continue in February. Work on the flyover at Gerault Road and FM 2499 will continue. Sidewalk, landscaping, and irrigation work will continue in February.

West Windsor Extension

This project will construct a new two lane concrete curb and gutter section roadway from Windsor to FM 2499.  The project will include the formation of the parks area adjacent to the roadway.

Timing:
Design began July 2011.  Construction is anticipated to start Summer 2012.

Assimilation – Roanoke Hills Water & Northlake Highlands Phase II Water

This project consists of upgrading the existing water in Roanoke Hills and Northlake Highlands to meet the Town’s water system requirements.

Status:
This project is currently under construction.

Work Completed:
Water service work in the Roanoke Hills and Northlake Highlands subdivision is complete.

FM 1171 to Hwy. 377 WATER LINE PHASE 1 - SECTION 2

This project consists of installing a 20” water line across White's Branch Creek Crossing on US Army Corps of Engineers property.

Status:
Design is complete.

Water line installation is complete.

Waketon Road 16-inch Water Line

The Waketon Road 16-inch Water Line project consists of installing 900 linear feet of 16-inch water line from the Waketon Elevated Storage Tank to the east boundary of The Reserve at Hickory Springs.

Contract has been awarded to Saber Development Corporation.

Start date:
November 2011.

Estimated completion date:
The project is substantially complete.

The majority of the water line has been installed.

Western Elevated Storage Tank

This project will consist of a new 2.5 Million Gallon elevated storage tank to serve western Flower Mound.  The tank will be located on Freeman Road near FM 1171.

The project is currently under construction.

The tank pedestal is complete.

Parks and Recreation Projects

The Heritage Park of Flower Mound Phase I

This project consists of adding an entry drive, parking, restroom building, picnic pavilion, playground, amphitheater, and concrete multi-use trails as well as adding turn lanes on Spinks Road.

Status:
Construction started in June 2011.

Start date:
June 2011

Estimated completion date:
December 2012

Project Budget:
$2 million

Work Completed:
Water and sewer line are complete. Site electrical 90% complete; parking lot lighting 95% complete; parking and entry drive 85% complete.

What to expect in the next month:
Planning for community built playground beginning.  Spinks turn lanes, pedestrian bridge installation, pavilion and restroom foundation work to continue in February.
