Instructors Wanted

The Town of Flower Mound is seeking to contract with individuals and businesses (both for-profit and non-profit) to provide various pre-school, youth, adult, and senior recreational, fitness, and instructional programs for the Parks and Recreation Division.   All proposals submitted must be family friendly and meet all of the specifications in the Recreational Programs Proposal.

Lil’ Red Tiger Pre-School

Children will gain the edge by learning American Karate the kid-friendly way and develop the important skills necessary to make the right choices. In addition to the
lessons, students will be eligible to attend two anti-abduction seminars per year for

Red Tiger Karate for Juniors

This white through black belt program teaches American Karate as well as antiabduction and bully self-defense. In addition, the program develops self-esteem, positive behavior, and academic achievement. In addition to the lessons, students will be eligible to attend two anti-abduction seminars per year for free at the CAC (dates to be announced.) Red Tiger Karate for Adults

This program teaches American Karate with a focus on street self-defense, fitness, and personal development. Most adults join to get back in shape, meet new people, and learn selfdefense. In addition to the lessons, students

Red Tiger Judo for Juniors

In addition to practicing throwing and grappling techniques, anti-abduction and bully self-defense skills are integrated

Kindermusik Dream - Hickory, Dickory, Tickle and Bounce

Hickory, Dickory, Tickle and Bounce feeds baby’s language development through the rhythmic nature of nursery rhymes along with an introduction to simple sign language. Home materials include two packets with a CD, story board book, art banners, and an instrument.

Kindermusik Fiddle-dee-dee

Creatures of the animal kingdom, whether furry, web-footed, hoofed, whiskered, or winged are subject matter for this class. Children will enjoy animal sounds and vocal imitation. Materials include two CD’s and storybooks, plus an activity book and a fiddlestick instrument.

Royal Keys The Key to Bully Proofing Class

The Key to Bully Proofing class helps to arm children with important skills to understand bullying, helping to avoid being bullied, or becoming a bully or bystander. Children will learn more than eight subjects including selfesteem, conflict resolution, peer pressure, and kindness.

Royal Keys - Royal Manners for Preschoolers

Royal Manners for Preschoolers is a specially tailored program for 4-5 year olds, designed to hold attention and teach them lifelong social skills. This class helps to introduce little ones to important subjects such as the golden rule, the five magic words, handshakes, and table manners.

Basic Guitar Class

These guitar classes are available to both beginner and intermediate students. The classes are available to accommodate elementary, middle, and high school students, regardless of skill level. Students will learn how to read proper music notation, chords, scales, etc. This is a relaxed group environment where students are able to advance at their own pace. Bring an electric or acoustic guitar.

Ballroom Dancing

Enjoy learning how to dance with a partner in a fun-filled atmosphere. This class will cover a variety of dances including the waltz, east coast swing, rumba, and salsa.

Country Western

Learn how to two step, progressive double two, and waltz around the dance floor. Come join in on the fun as you learn how to Texas dance in an easy-going, fun-filled atmosphere.

You Can Paint With Oils - Youth and Adults

In this one day class you will amaze yourself, family, and friends with a beautiful oil painting. Professional artists and certified instructors of the Robert Garden School of Art teach perspective, composition, color mixing, and special brush strokes step-by-step. Please wear an old t-shirt and bring a roll of paper towels.

Drawing and Painting with a Creative Brain

Students will explore a series of art exercises based on Betty Edwards’ theories that will help develop their drawing skills. Subjects will include still life, self-portraits, imaginative drawing, and landscapes. Media includes pencil drawing, colored pencils, watercolor, and oil pastel.

Spring Break Garden Art Camp

In this fun-filled and inspiring four day camp your young artist will create eight masterpieces using five different mediums. Realistic painting with oils, watercolor, and acrylic, and drawing with charcoal, and oil pastels will be demonstrated and explored. Subjects include landscapes, seascapes, florals, animals, and more. All art supplies are provided. Bring paper
towels and wear old t-shirt.

Learn to Dance - A Confidence Booster

Students grow in a social grace and learn to be comfortable on the dance floor while having a lot of fun. Basic skills for friendships and relationships with others are taught, as well as the art of leading and following. Students are exposed to a variety of ballroom music and learn to recognize each. Students are invited to a Spring Ball on April 11.

Ms. JoAnn’s Ballet/Tap

Students will develop rhythm, poise, and coordination while learning the fundamentals of ballet and tap. This class will create group interaction skills and support your child’s self esteem and positive image. Ballet shoes, leotards, and tights are required for all dance classes. Tap shoes are required for tap classes.

Tumbling for Tots

This class will teach the fundamentals of gymnastics on a floor mat while developing flexibility and strength. Children will also learn coordination skills on a balance beam and parachute exercises. Classes will build self confidence and use group interaction skills while supporting your child’s self-esteem and positive image. Wear comfortable play clothes; girls may wear dance attire.

Cheerleading 1

Students will work on developing coordination, strength and flexibility. Students will also learn jumps, stretches, motions, and safety techniques that will get them ready to join a squad.

Birth Options after a C-Section

This class is intended for parents who are planning a vaginal birth after a cesarean. This class will focus on creating a positive mindset for birthing normally, coping skills, involving and preparing older siblings for the birth and
the new baby, and connect with other parents who are sharing a similar experience. This will give you a chance to identify what worked and what did not in your past births, and spend a few hours focusing on this pregnancy.

Baby Care Basics

This class is designed to help parents respond with confidence to their baby’s individual needs and build positive relationships in the process. Learn what your baby can do in their first hours, days, weeks, and months. Find out how newborns sleep, eat, communicate, function, and develop physiologically and neurologically.

Lamaze Childbirth Education Program

This class is for pregnant couples to create awareness about normal, healthy, and natural pregnancy and childbirth. This course will help couples widen their knowledge on childbirth and learn about all of the choices they have in pregnancy and birth. Build your confidence in your journey towards celebrating the birth of your child.

Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal Yoga is a safe, effective, and peaceful way to exercise throughout your pregnancy. This class teaches movement, breath, and postures that can both mentally and physically help women through pregnancy, labor, delivery,
and motherhood. Prenatal Yoga provides an opportunity for women to deepen the connection with their growing baby, to appreciate and celebrate their changing body, and to connect and converse with other expectant mothers in
the community. Please bring a yoga mat and a pillow.

Mommy & Me Postnatal Yoga

Mommy & Me Postnatal Yoga is designed to help the postpartum mother safely get back into shape while playfully bonding with her new baby. Women will learn yoga postures and practices that can help ease aches and pains, revive overstressed muscles, and nurture mom’s body, mind, and spirit. Baby exercises are incorporated into the class to
develop your baby’s motor skills, right and left brain integration, tactile and auditory senses, and of course, the special bonding time with mommy. Previous yoga experience is not required. All participating mothers must be
cleared for exercise by their physicians prior to attending. Please bring a yoga mat for mom and a comfortable blanket for baby.
