Construction Information > IVR Letter

Dear Contractor,

The Town of Flower Mound Building Inspections Division uses an IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system for inspection scheduling. This is an automated system used to schedule inspections via telephone. The telephone number to access the IVR is 972-539-8379. To use the system, you will need a 5 digit access code (given to you when you register with the Town), your 6-digit permit number (located on your permit), and a 2-digit inspection code (listed on the back of your permit).

The IVR system can only be accessed by a contractor with a valid access code. This 5-digit access code is given to all contractors when they register with the Town. Please do not call our office to obtain this number. You can come by our office and show proper identification to obtain the code (only those people listed on your registration form will be given this code and only with proper identification). This code is the safeguard from having an unauthorized person call in for an inspection on your permit.

The IVR system will NOT give you a list of inspection codes so it is VERY important for you to keep a copy of your inspection codes from the back of your permit with you (remember that the permit will be at the job site). A list of all inspection codes (residential, commercial and pool) is available on our website and 972-539-TOWN line (code 880). Please DO NOT call the office to obtain the inspection codes – CHECK THE BACK OF YOUR YELLOW PERMIT.

The new IVR system will let you schedule inspections for the next available inspection day ONLY. In the event of a weekend, holiday or in-service day, the IVR will schedule your inspection for the next available inspection day.

The following inspections, which are conducted by other Town departments, will be required to be called in to the new IVR system: PRE-DRAINAGE (except for pools which are conducted prior to the issuance of the permit), FINAL DRAINAGE-ENGINEERING INSPECTION, DRAINAGE CULVERT and PARKS FINAL. The FIRE FINAL, ENGINEERING FINAL, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH/CODE ENFORCEMENT FINAL and SEPTIC APPROVAL will require calling these individual departments. Any questions or concerns regarding these inspections should be directed to the department conducting the inspection. The inspection code sheet (on the back of your permit) will show the phone number of each of the above-mentioned departments.

You can cancel an inspection using the IVR (option #3), if you call before 7:30 a.m. the day of the inspection. Otherwise, you must cancel in person at our office prior to 9:00 a.m. the morning of the inspection.

You can check on a scheduled inspection and obtain the results of an inspection using the IVR system (option #2). Inspections results are posted by 5:00 p.m. the day of the inspection. DO NOT CALL OUR OFFICE TO OBTAIN RESULTS OF YOUR INSPECTION. A copy of the inspection ticket noting the results along with any comments is left at the jobsite. Any questions regarding the inspection should be directed to the inspector (his name is also on the inspection ticket) by calling his direct number (see builder’s packet for a list of direct numbers).

Sincerely,

Danny Hartz
