The Project

The West Windsor Extension project completes the Thoroughfare Plan connection from Bridlewood Boulevard to Long Prairie Road (FM 2499). This project includes two roundabouts; one at Pinon Street and one at Mulberry Street. There will be an eight-foot wide concrete trail along the south side of the proposed roadway and a six-foot crushed granite trail on the north side. In conjunction with the roadway project, there will be a linear park project which will include the following amenities: two gazebos, several picnic areas, trail kiosk, quarter-mile trail monuments, and a four-hole practice disc golf course.

The roadway section to be constructed will be an urban collector, as shown on the exhibits. The urban collector matches the existing roadway section through the Bridlewood subdivision.

Public Input

Resident feedback is always encouraged regarding projects that impact our community. As such, all of the Master Thoroughfare Plans involve opportunities for public input and comment.

Public meetings are being held for this project at the 30%, 60%, and 90% stages to gain public input on the roadway, the park, and the project amenities and concepts.

For further information or questions on the project, please contact Gregory Perry at 972.874.6302 or gregory.perry@flower-mound.com.

Funding

The Town and its mobility partners have entered into a funding agreement for this project.  The Town applied for and received a Sustainable Development Grant from TxDOT/NCTCOG.  The grant is an 80%/20% match, with the Town matching 20% of the roadway cost (i.e. design and construction)

School Zones

The Town of Flower Mound has a strong history of providing and preserving safe routes to schools. Though not required, the Town provides, at certain locations, warning flashers at the beginning of school zones adjacent to school properties.   With the extension of West Windsor, these improvements include the installation of actuated flashers for crossings at the Pinon roundabout.
