Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is nearing end on a project to add two lanes to the existing center median of FM 2499 from Spinks Road to FM 1171, resulting in a six-lane divided thoroughfare. TxDOT labeled this project FM 2499 Section II, which consists of four phases.
TxDOT’s FM 2499 Section III will widen the existing two lane roadway to a six-lane divided thoroughfare from FM 1171 to FM 407. The project began October 29, 2007, and will continue for approximately 24 months.
The Section IV project proposes the construction of a new four-lane divided urban arterial from the existing north boundary of FM 2499 at FM 407 northbound to FM 2181, a distance of 4.7 miles. Sufficient right-of-way would be acquired to allow for its eventual expansion to an ultimate six-lane divided urban arterial.
