Weekly Children's Classes

Weekly classes meet year-round, except during the month of August and the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Buzzing Bumblebees: Geared toward children who are not yet walking, this class will encourage babies to explore the world of language and develop motor skills through books, songs, rhymes and related activities. Buzzing Bumblebees meets on Mondays and Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. Registration is not required

Wiggly Walkers: A new class designed for “new walkers” (those who are just starting to walk and still require some assistance) up to the age of two. Wiggly Walkers encourages tots to build early literacy skills through music, books, and rhyme. This class meets Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m.

Romping Rhymers: Two- and three-year-olds will have a rollicking time reading, singing, and dancing while continuing to build literacy skills at Romping Rhymers on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m.

Leaping Learners: Children ages three to five will share books, sing songs, and develop group listening skills in this class designed as a launch pad to reading. Leaping Learners meets Mondays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and Tuesdays at 2 p.m.

Babypalooza
Babies ages 0-18 months. This is an opportunity for parents, caregivers, grandparents, and their baby to join others in experiencing a variety of sensory play areas including building boxes, art activities, shakers, and much more! This program meets on the second Friday of each month (except August) from 11:15-12:15 p.m.
2016 dates:  September 9, October 14, November 11,  and December 9.

Batteries Not Included; a STEAM Program for Grades K-2
Join us as we explore our world through nonfiction books and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, And Math). This program meets every fourth Monday from 3:30-4:30p.m. September-April.
2016 Dates: September 26, October 24, November 28, and December 26.

Gaming Unplugged
Join fellow gamers for an afternoon of chess, table-top games and role-playing games on the second Sunday of the month from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Games will be provided, or you may bring your own. All ages welcome.
2016 dates:  September 11, October 9, November 13, and December 11.

Family Storytime        
Stories, music, rhyme, crafts, and snacks for families with young children (60 minutes). Registration not required. This program meet on the third Wednesday of each month (except August) from 7-8 p.m.
2016 dates: September 21, October 19, November 16, December 21

Firecracker Book Club        
Book discussion and related activities for children in grades 3-5 only. Reservations required for groups of eight or more; call 972.874.6167. A limited number of books will be available to borrow at each meeting. This program meets on the second Tuesday of each month, September-May at 4:00-5:00 p.m.
2016 dates: September 13, October 11, November 15 and December 13.

Middle School Book Club
Discover new books and talk about them with other readers at the Middle School Book Club! This book club opportunity is open to students grades 6-8 and meets every third Monday (except June, July and August) from 4:30-5:30p.m.
