StormThe Town of Flower Mound is currently finalizing tornado debris clean up efforts. The Bakersfield Park Central Drop Off is now closed to storm debris deposits and unlimited free access to the Camelot Landfill is no longer available.

Residents may deliver up to four cubic yards of brush or bulk debris free of charge to the landfill once per month with proof of residency in the form of a valid driver’s license or a current utility bill displaying a Town of Flower Mound address.Please refer to the Storm Debris Removal map to verify completion in your specific area. The Town of Flower Mound will celebrate Independence Day 2009 with two of its most popular events on Saturday, July 4. A children’s parade will kick-off the day, and the much anticipated fireworks show will follow in the evening. Come join the Town in celebrating our great nation.

In observance of Independence Day, all Town of Flower Mound administrative offices will be closed July 3 and the Flower Mound Public Library will be closed July 3 and 4. Animal Services will be closed July 4, and the Community Activity Center will be open normal business hours. Police, Fire, and Emergency Services remain in operation during all holidays. Protect Your Trees from Dutch Elm Disease

This time of year is prime for the spread and infestation of Dutch Elm disease, a silent killer among elm trees. The disease is caused by a fungus that prevents elm trees from transmitting water from the roots to the crown and eventually causes them to wilt and die. Dutch Elm progresses through infected trees very rapidly.For more information about this disease, call Environmental Services at 972.874.6340.



Mosquito Protection Tips

Mosquito season is upon us. To help prevent mosquito breeding around homes and neighborhoods and protect residents from mosquito-borne diseases, the Town has provided some simple steps to take by following the "Four Ds": Dusk and Dawn, Dress, DEET, Drain. To report mosquito problems in a neighborhood or for more information on mosquito control, contact the Environmental Health Services Division at 972.874.6340.



Spark Your Interest - FMFD Youth Fire Academy

The Flower Mound Fire Department will hold the Youth Fire Academy from 1 to 5 p.m. on August 10 – 13 at Central Fire Station, 3838 Forums Drive, for students entering the seventh or eighth grade in the fall. For more information, call 972.874.6270.

FMFD Participates in Thrilling Boat School Training

Four members of the Flower Mound Fire Department’s (FMFD) fire boat team recently participated in the Arkansas Boat School, the largest in-land lake fire boat school in the United States. Sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Forestry and United States Coast Guard, the free training included wild land fire support, defensive driving, response to a boat wreck on the lake, dock/marina fire, and surface water rescue.
